SYDNEE CARTER BIO – X Factor 2014

Sydnee Carter is a 16 year-old contestant from Wanneroo, Western Australia. She unsuccessfully auditioned for The X Factor in series five but said that busking at Fremantle Markets on weekends had helped her build up the confidence to try again.

Aside from singing, Carter also plays guitar and writes her own music. She began playing the guitar at the age of six. Prior to entering series six of The X Factor, Carter was a student at Sacred Heart College, Sorrento.

She auditioned for The X Factor singing “Youth” by Daughter and received a standing ovation from the judges. She then progressed to the super bootcamp round of the competition. For the first challenge of bootcamp, Carter was placed into a group with three other contestants from her category to perform a song together for the judges.

Carter made it to the second bootcamp challenge, where she performed “Tennis Court” by Lorde to the judges and a live audience of one thousand. She then progressed to the home visits round in New York City and performed “We Found Love” by Rihanna in front of her mentor Ronan Keating and guest mentor John Legend.

Keating later selected Carter for the live shows.
