Early Media Career
Deborah Knight began her career in regional radio, working for radio station 2WG in Wagga Wagga before moving to Sydney’s Mix 106.5.
She later joined the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), where she worked in a variety of high-profile roles including rural reporting, presenting for youth radio station Triple J, and hosting respected current affairs programs including AM and the breakfast program on ABC Radio National.
Her work at the ABC helped establish Deborah Knight as a talented and credible journalist with strong experience in both news and broadcasting.
Network Ten Career
Deborah Knight joined Network Ten after being discovered by the network’s political editor, Paul Bongiorno, and began working in the Canberra Press Gallery.
During her time covering federal politics, Deborah reported on two Australian Federal Elections and regularly presented Meet The Press and national Ten News bulletins.
In 2000, she joined George Donikian as co-presenter of Ten News at Five Adelaide.
Deborah later moved to Los Angeles to co-lead Network Ten’s United States Bureau alongside journalist Rahni Sadler. While based in the US, she covered major international stories including:
- The September 11 attacks
- The Iraq War
- The re-election campaign of US President George W. Bush
Her international reporting experience further strengthened her reputation as a leading Australian journalist.
Return to Australia and Sydney News Presenter
After returning to Australia in 2004, Deborah Knight worked as a fill-in news presenter before becoming co-presenter of Ten News at Five Sydney alongside Ron Wilson in 2006.
She also regularly presented Ten Late News and filled in on Meet The Press on Sunday mornings.
Deborah remained one of Network Ten’s leading news presenters until 2011.
Nine Network Career
In 2011, Deborah Knight joined the Nine Network, becoming news presenter for Weekend Today and Monday news presenter on the Today show.
She later expanded her role at Nine by presenting the business and finance program Financial Review Sunday in 2013.
Deborah Knight also became a regular fill-in presenter and eventually, in 2015, was officially announced as co-host of Weekend Today alongside Cameron Williams.
