Glenn Robbins
Early Acting and Comedy Career
Glenn Robbins began his acting career in 1984 with appearances in two episodes of the Australian television drama Prisoner. In 1985, he appeared on the sketch comedy show The Eleventh Hour.
Robbins rose to national fame in 1988 after joining the hit sketch comedy series The Comedy Company. One of his most memorable characters, “Uncle Arthur”, quickly became a fan favourite and helped establish Glenn Robbins as one of Australia’s leading comedic performers.
In 1991, Robbins joined the cast of Fast Forward for two seasons. He continued building his reputation through appearances in several popular sketch comedy programs including Full Frontal (1993), Jimeoin (1994–1995), and Something Stupid (1998).
Success on The Panel and Television Comedy
In 1998, Glenn Robbins became a regular panellist on Channel Ten’s weekly television series The Panel. The show proved highly successful and remained on air for eight seasons before going on hiatus in 2005.
From 2001 to 2002, Robbins portrayed the iconic character Russell Coight in All Aussie Adventures. The comedy series became a cult favourite among Australian audiences.
Beginning in 2002, Glenn Robbins took on the role of Kel Knight in the hugely successful comedy series Kath & Kim. His performance became one of the show’s highlights, and he later appeared in the 2005 telemovie Da Kath & Kim Code. The original television series concluded in 2007.
Television Hosting and Producing
In 2006, Glenn Robbins appeared in two episodes of Channel 10’s improvisational comedy program Thank God You’re Here. Around the same time, he also served as executive producer for the Network 10 sketch comedy series The Ronnie Johns Half Hour.
In 2008, Robbins hosted the Channel 7 game show Out of the Question. He later appeared in the comedy television program The Joy of Sets on Channel 9 in 2011.
In 2013, Glenn Robbins joined the ABC comedy series Upper Middle Bogan, playing the character Wayne Wheeler. The show was well received and returned for a second season the following year.
Glenn Robbins Film Career
Alongside his television success, Glenn Robbins has also appeared in several Australian films. In 2001, he played Pete O’May in the award-winning drama Lantana.
In 2006, Robbins co-starred with Mick Molloy in the comedy film BoyTown, portraying an ageing 1980s pop star named Benny G. attempting a comeback. He later appeared in the 2011 comedy Scumbus.
In 2012, Glenn Robbins reprised his beloved role as Kel Knight in the feature film Kath and Kimderella.
Radio Work and Current Projects
Glenn Robbins has also built a strong presence in Australian radio. He regularly appears on Melbourne radio station 3AW with a weekly one-hour segment as part of The Weekend Break with Grubby and Dee Dee Sunday edition.
Audiences can also see Glenn Robbins as a regular contributor on Network 10’s popular comedy quiz program Have You Been Paying Attention?, where his humour and quick wit continue to entertain viewers across Australia.
