Sam Perry
Sam Perry – The Voice Australia Contestant and Live Vocal Loop Artist
Sam Perry is one of Australia’s most recognised contestants from The Voice Australia 2018. Based in Perth, Western Australia, he has become widely known for his innovative vocal looping performances and is now available for corporate events, festivals and special live appearances.
Australia has produced many successful artists through television talent shows such as The X Factor, Australia’s Got Talent, So You Think You Can Dance and The Voice. Many of these performers go on to build recording careers and corporate entertainment portfolios. Sam Perry stands out as one of the most unique acts to emerge from this space.
Sam Perry’s Unique Vocal Looping Style
Sam Perry is a world-class vocal loop artist who discovered his passion for sound creation through mimicking and experimenting with vocal tones in the classroom.
He performs as a one-man orchestra, using only a loop station, effects pedals and a microphone. Through live layering, he builds complex soundscapes featuring vocal harmonies, deep bass lines and beatbox-style rhythms in real time.
His live performances are known for their creativity, technical skill and immersive sound design.
Breakthrough on The Voice Australia
Sam Perry gained national attention on The Voice Australia when all four coaches turned their chairs during his audition, creating one of the most competitive pitch battles in the show’s history.
Coach Delta Goodrem described his performance as:
“That was the coolest thing we’ve ever seen on The Voice.”
His appearance on the show introduced his innovative looping style to a national audience and significantly boosted his profile in the Australian music and entertainment industry.
Early Career and 360 Allstars
In early 2013, Sam Perry was scouted by Onyx Productions for 360 Allstars – Urban Circus, a live theatre stunt and performance show featuring world-record-holding international artists.
The production toured extensively across Australia with more than 76 performances in major theatres and entertainment venues before expanding internationally to Germany, where it completed a near-sold-out 25-show tour. The show continues to tour globally.
TEDx Performance and Artistic Development
After eight months of touring, Sam Perry returned to Australia in 2013 for a featured performance at a TEDx event held at The Octagon Theatre.
His performance was widely praised, leaving audiences in what was described as an “hypnotic state of awe” and further establishing his reputation as an experimental live performer.
The World Is… Live Performance Project
Following his TEDx appearance, Sam Perry developed a new multimedia live show titled The World Is….
The production combined live vocal looping with a cinematic visual experience directed by Brendan Joel. It premiered at the Perth FRINGEWORLD Festival in February 2014, selling out all performances across multiple nights.
The show received a 4-star review from The West Australian and won the FRINGEWORLD Music Award for 2014, marking a major milestone in his creative career.
