Morning Television and Hosting Career

Sonia Kruger currently appears on Nine’s Mornings alongside co-host David Campbell. Her role on daytime television has made her a familiar and trusted face for Australian audiences.

In 2012, she hosted Big Brother Australia on the Nine Network, leading the show through a highly successful season. The series reached peak national audiences of more than 2.2 million viewers, averaging over one million viewers per episode.

Sonia Kruger began her performance career at the age of four, training in ballroom and Latin American dance in Brisbane.

She went on to represent Australia at the Amateur British Ballroom Championships and became Australian Ballroom, Latin and New Vogue Professional Champion.

Her dancing talent led to her casting as ‘Tina Sparkle’ in the internationally successful Australian film Strictly Ballroom. While filming, she also assisted cast members with dance training.

Her expertise in dance later saw her teach at NIDA for more than four years.

Following her success in Strictly Ballroom, Sonia Kruger built a strong television career across multiple Australian networks.

She appeared as a reporter on Channel Nine’s children’s program Wonder World and featured in ABC-TV’s Three Men and a Baby Grand.

In 1997, after completing an Arts degree at the University of Technology Sydney, she joined the Seven Network’s morning program 11AM as an entertainment reporter. She later moved to Today Tonight, where she continued her work in television journalism and entertainment reporting.
