Sophie Monk is an Australian singer, actress, television personality and former pop group member who first rose to fame as part of the girl group Bardot. Rise to Fame with Bardot

Sophie Monk began her professional music career in 1999 when she auditioned for the Australian reality television series Popstars. Selected from thousands of applicants, she became a member of the pop group Bardot.

Bardot made history as the first Australian act to debut at No. 1 with both their debut single Poison and self-titled debut album. The group achieved immediate commercial success, followed by hit singles including I Should’ve Never Let You Go, These Days, ASAP, and I Need Somebody.

Their second album Play It Like That debuted in the ARIA Top 20 and achieved gold certification. Bardot disbanded in 2002 after a successful national tour and multiple Top 20 singles.

Solo Music Career

After Bardot disbanded, Sophie Monk signed with Warner Music Australia and launched her solo career.

Her debut single Inside Outside (2002) reached No. 5 on the ARIA Singles Chart, followed by Get the Music On, which peaked at No. 10. Her debut album Calendar Girl was released in 2003 and included multiple singles and co-written tracks.

Although the album received mixed reviews, it established her as a solo pop artist before she moved away from recording music in 2004.

Music Collaborations and Other Projects

In 2007, Sophie Monk recorded a cover of Push It by Salt-N-Pepa as part of a promotional campaign for Biofit Bra by Pleasure State, where she served as a brand spokesperson. The project included a music video and live promotional performances.

In 2015, she also released a cover of Drummer Boy, continuing her involvement in entertainment and promotional music projects.

Film and Acting Career

Sophie Monk made her acting debut in 2004 with a role portraying Marilyn Monroe in The Mystery of Natalie Wood. She also appeared in music videos including Blink-182’s Always.

After relocating to Los Angeles in 2005, she secured her breakout film role in the comedy Date Movie. She later appeared in films such as Click, Sex and Death 101, Spring Breakdown and The Hills Run Red.
